Birth Doula Support
Includes four visits and the birth
As your birth doula I will support you and your partner during your pregnancy with two prenatal visits tailored to your needs beginning at 33 weeks or earlier if you so choose. We will touch on what you are learning in your childbirth education classes discussing any questions or concerns that you have. I will suggest resources for stress relief which may include exercise, art, meditation, and nourishing food and herbal support. I will be on call for your birth beginning at 38 weeks, am available via text and/or call during early labor, and will be physically present for you at the onset of active labor and through your entire delivery at your home, the hospital, or birth center until you have established breastfeeding with your newborn. During labor I will use massage, counter pressure, aromatherapy, emotional support, and will keep a sacred and tidy birth space. In the case of induction or planned cesarean, we can discuss what this could look like at a prenatal visit. Ideally we will have 1-2 postpartum visits, the first being within 36 hours of your birth. The second or subsequent visits can be determined at our last prenatal visit, or can be made as the need arises. Payment plans are available.
I am of the opinion that loving and attentive support of the new parent will ultimately encourage proper healing of the mind, body, and spirit. If I am your birth doula, I will stay with you after the birth of your baby until breastfeeding is established, and you have had your first meal. I will remain on call for the first 24 hours, and would like to visit you within 36 hours of birth either at the hospital or once you are discharged and have returned home. Postpartum visits are to ensure that breastfeeding is going well, that the family is receiving nourishment, and that any newborn care questions and concerns can be addressed. Our next visit should take place within 4 weeks postpartum. If the need for more postpartum support arises, I am available at a 15% reduced hourly rate when included with birth doula services.
If you are hiring strictly for postpartum support, you can choose from the following packages:
A Little Love: Begins within 24 hours after birth and can include: assistance in returning home after discharge from the hospital, care of plants or garden areas, tidying the kitchen and bedroom, setting up a nursing and diaper changing area, changing and folding laundry, grocery shopping, and easy meal preparation, modeling soothing techniques and baby wearing, assistance with breastfeeding and/or pumping, breast care tips, holding baby while a family eats/rests/showers, etc, providing loving companionship. Blocks of 12 or more hours will be discounted.
Settling In: includes 6 hours of basic postpartum care mentioned above over the course of 1 or 2 days, a nourishing whole grain breakfast porridge and a hearty soup or stew with leftovers, and 16oz of an herbal tea blend.
Fully Nourished: includes 10 hours of basic postpartum care, a nourishing whole grain breakfast porridge with fruit, a hearty soup or stew and a double batch of no bake lactation bites- all with leftovers, and 16oz of an herbal tea blend.
